After a gap of 4 years, the 19 June 2016 was agreed as the date to deliver the Corps Sunday service. This event was to include both a church service and social event and it was organised in collaboration with the newly forming RAMC Association (Cyprus Branch). The intent was to re-introduce this key ceremonial date back into the Cyprus DMS calendar whilst drawing together all elements of the DMS family (serving and retired and not just RAMC). Furthermore, the specific desired outcome of the day was to raise awareness of the RAMC Association and raise funds for the newly formed Cyprus Branch. The event was held on the sand at Tunnel Beach (Episkopi), with musical support provided by the Central Band of the RAF throughout the service and also during the social event afterwards.

The Corps Sunday was attended by 112 serving and retired personnel (and their families), and the feedback was very positive. 41 DMS (serving and veterans) were present for the group photograph on the harbour walls at the completion of the service.

The RAMC Association

William Boog LeishmanIn 1926, the RAMC Association was formed to further the camaraderie of WW1 Corps veterans with Sir William Leishman being the first President. There are now some 38 branches around UK with a predominantly veteran membership although most serving Corps members also are members centrally. The Association has traditionally been supported by Corps Funds and especially for the expenses of the branch standards and standard bearers.
