Home|Accessibility

The RAMC Association is committed to making its website as accessible and usable as possible for all visitors.

We want people using this website to be able to find information, access support, read news and events, and contact the Association as easily as possible.

This page explains our approach to accessibility, the steps we have taken, and how visitors can adjust their browsing experience to suit their needs.

Our Approach

We aim to make the RAMC Association website clear, readable and easy to navigate. Wherever possible, we try to follow recognised accessibility guidance and good practice, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines produced by the World Wide Web Consortium.

As the website continues to develop, we will keep accessibility under review and make improvements where we identify issues or receive feedback.

  • Our approach to making this website accessible.
  • The steps we have taken to support different users and accessibility needs.
  • Guidance on how to use common browser accessibility features.
  • How to contact us if you experience an accessibility issue or have feedback.

Changing Text Size

Most modern browsers allow visitors to increase or decrease the size of text and page content. This can usually be done by using the browser zoom controls.

  • On Windows, press Ctrl and + to zoom in, or Ctrl and to zoom out.
  • On Mac, press Command and + to zoom in, or Command and to zoom out.
  • You can usually reset the page zoom by pressing Ctrl and 0, or Command and 0 on Mac.

You may also be able to change default font sizes through your browser settings. The exact steps vary depending on whether you are using Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Safari or another browser.

Keyboard Navigation

The website is intended to be usable with a keyboard where possible. This can help visitors who do not use a mouse or who use assistive technology.

Common keyboard controls include:

  • Use the Tab key to move forwards through links, buttons and form fields.
  • Use Shift and Tab to move backwards.
  • Use the Enter key to activate a selected link or button.
  • Use the Space Bar to select or unselect checkboxes.
  • Use the arrow keys to move through some dropdown menus and form controls.

Colour and Contrast

We aim to use colours that provide suitable contrast between text and background areas. We also try to avoid relying on colour alone to communicate important information.

If you find any part of the website difficult to read because of colour, contrast or background imagery, please contact us so that we can review it.

Images and Documents

Where possible, we aim to use meaningful image descriptions and clear document titles. Some older documents, archive material or externally supplied files may not be fully accessible.

If you need information from a document in a different format, please contact us and we will do our best to help.

Forms

The website may include forms for general enquiries, branch enquiries, membership enquiries, events or other Association-related purposes.

We aim to make forms as clear and straightforward as possible, with labelled fields and helpful instructions. If you experience difficulty using a form, please contact us through an alternative route where available.

Third-Party Content

Some parts of the website may include content or services provided by third parties, such as embedded forms, event booking tools, maps, social media links or external websites.

We do not have full control over the accessibility of third-party platforms, but we will consider accessibility when choosing and reviewing the services we use.

Ongoing Improvements

Accessibility is an ongoing process. As the RAMC Association website is updated, we will continue to review the design, content and functionality to improve usability for all visitors.

Please note: Some older content, archive pages, PDF documents or external resources may not meet the same accessibility standards as newer website content.

Feedback and Contact

If you have difficulty using this website, or if you have suggestions on how accessibility could be improved, please contact the RAMC Association.

When contacting us, it would be helpful if you can include:

  • The page or feature you were trying to use.
  • What the issue was.
  • What device, browser or assistive technology you were using, if relevant.

We will review accessibility feedback and use it to help improve the website where possible.
