RAMC Benevolence

Support for members and families facing hardship, health challenges or financial difficulty.

Support & Benevolence

Here When You Need Support

If you are former RAMC, but still serving, a veteran, or family member of the Corps and need support, we want to help you find it. You do not have to be in crisis to ask. If things are tough, please reach out.

Who Is Eligible

Who Can Apply for Support

Anyone who has served at least one day in the RAMC, whether Regular or Reserve, commissioned or not can apply for support. Dependants, including widows and widowers, may also be considered for financial assistance.

Accessing Support

How to Access Support

The best route to support is through the Royal British Legion or SSAFA. Their experienced caseworkers will assess your situation, prepare your case, and coordinate with the RAMC Charity and other military charities on your behalf.

This coordinated approach ensures your needs are properly understood and not handled in isolation. Once a caseworker completes their assessment, your case is directed to the most appropriate organisation: the RBL, the Soldiers’ Charity, the RAMC Charity, or a combination.

The RAMC Benevolence Committee meets regularly and can respond to Out of Committee cases between scheduled meetings. Where funding is approved, payment is typically made within a week.

Not sure where to start? Contact your local RAMC branch welfare officer, who can help you take the first step.

Important Information

How Applications Are Managed

Please note that the Benevolence Manager cannot accept direct applications. All cases must be submitted through an accredited caseworker.

Charity & Association

What the RAMC Charity and Association Are

The RAMC Charity exists to support past and present members of the Corps and their families facing financial hardship, health challenges, disability, or the difficulties that can come with age. It operates alongside but separately from the RAMC Association, which exists to maintain the comradeship and heritage of the Corps community.

Limitations

What the Charity Cannot Fund

The Benevolence Committee is unable to fund debt repayment, provide loans, care home fees or SEND funding. All other requests are considered on a case-by-case basis, with flexibility and compassion.

A Realistic View

Being Honest About the Process

We know this process is not always perfect. It can feel slow or impersonal, and sometimes people fall through the gaps. We are honest about this because we want to do better. If you have had a difficult experience accessing support, please let us know.
